		<description>Hi Miriam,

I’m sorry to hear you do not have a school nurse this year. That seems to be the case more often in school’s across the country.

I would suggest starting with your school board to see if they have any suggestions on who would be able to provide free hearing and vision screenings. If they are unable to direct you I would then suggest contacting local pediatrician’s offices and see if they know of any services.

These links also may be of help:

http://hearinglossca.org/resources-and-support/other-organizations

http://www.heartsandminds.org/self/links/senselinks.htm

Although some of the services in these links are geared toward people who are already deaf or blind, they may be able to direct you towards preventative services.

Best,
Sarah</description>

		<description>Hello,
My name is Miriam Ortega. I am a second grade teacher at Santa Monica Blvd. Community Charter School in Hollywood. I would like to get some information on how we can obtain your services at our school. We work in a community where most families are low income and cannot afford to take their children to get a vision test. Unfortunately this year we do not have a school nurse. It has been my experience, that when a child is performing below grade, level vision or hearing tends to be the root of the problem. We just started classes this week and I would like to have my student’s vision/hearing tested. Ideally I would like the whole school tested but if not possible, then just my class. Would you kindly return my message or perhaps direct me to someone who can help me, I’d greatly appreciate it! I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,
Miriam Ortega
