Have you seen the movie Precious?  If you have, you know the main character, Precious, really needed someone to help her realize her potential and self-worth.

The Precious Center for Teen Leadership was inspired by the movie Precious’ main character. This newly created program supports significant achievements in the lives of girls who face the day-to-day challenges of growing up in some of New York City’s toughest neighborhoods.

The Precious Center for Teen Leadership serves 180 girls annually by providing young women, ages 13 to 15, with a safe, nurturing environment to focus on their futures, and overcome perceived limitations of gender, ethnicity and socio-economic status. The girls are coached in reading and writing, self-esteem, nutrition and fitness.

The Precious Center has even gained the attention of SHAPE magazine editors who personally visited the Center and shared their expertise and dedication to fitness, education and career development.

Here’s to positive steps forward.
